Cremation Care

Our Crematory-

Beatty-Peterseim Funeral, Cremation Care and Monument Service owns and operates our own crematory. When you call on us, your loved one does not leave our care.

We do not use a crematory in a warehouse/industrial building, nor do we use a crematory owned by

someone else. Our crematory is located at our funeral home in Washington and is open for your

inspection.

Why is this important? ONLY Licensed Funeral Directors and Certified Crematory Operators operate our crematory. Your loved one's care is very important to you and us, therefore we do not want to

leave their cremation up to a third party operator who may not have been trained in the respectful,

compassionate, reverent care as licensed funeral directors have. By operating our own crematory we can ensure the highest quality of care will be given to your loved one. Personal Identification-

Beatty-Peterseim Funeral, Cremation Care and Monument Service wants to ensure your loved one's

Personal Identification-

As soon as your loved one enters our care, a personal identification band is placed on your loved one.

Tracking-

Upon arrival your loved one is logged into our cremation record system and is assigned a cremation

ID tag. This ID tag is a numerically stamped metal disc and is in addition to the personal

identification band placed on your loved one when they initially enter our care. This metal disc

accompanies your loved one throughout the cremation process. The ID tag is ultimately placed into

the urn and is an enclosed permanent means of identification.

Beatty-Peterseim Funeral, Cremation Care and Monument Services want to ensure each family receives the cremains of their loved one and carefully monitors and tracks each cremation.

Record Keeping-

Our funeral home utilizes a detailed record keeping system. Our cremation log book records the name of the individual, date & time of cremation, Cremation ID tag number, the licensed funeral director that is operating the crematory, as well as any other important information regarding the

cremation.

Prior to ANY cremation at our crematory, the funeral director and at least one other staff member

carefully checks the identification of each individual being cremated & all cremation documents.

Following the cremation process, the time of completion is recorded in the log book.

The State of Iowa Laws regarding cremation are strictly followed at our crematory and funeral home.

Following Cremation-

Following the cremation procedure your loved one's cremains are carefully placed in the um,

keepsakes and/ or jewelry keepsake pieces that were selected.

Recieving Cremated Remains-

Upon arrival your loved one is logged into our cremation record system and is assigned a cremation

ID tag. This ID tag is a numerically stamped metal disc and is in addition to the personal

Traditional Funeral Service followed by Cremation

Many families find meaning and beauty in a traditional funeral service. With a traditional service combined with cremation, you can still choose to have a final viewing, visitation or wake, and a funeral service. However instead of in-ground burial, the funeral will be followed by cremation. Depending on your wishes, the cremated remains may be either returned to your family for storage in an urn, scattered, or interred in a columbarium. This option will include fees for the funeral services as well as the fees associated with the cremation itself.

Memorial Service

The memorial service can be held in our chapel, a church, or any other venue the family chooses. We work with our families to design a service that honors their loved one with stories, music, or scripture. We also have life celebrants that lead services where clergy may not be chosen. Our celebrants are trained in creating experiences that help start the healing process.

Graveside Service

A graveside or committal service is typically held immediately following the funeral service but it can also be a small intimate gathering of those closest to you.

Permanent Memorialization

Keeping an Urn at Home

This is a common choice and families can select the perfect urn for their loved one.

Placing the Urn in a Columbarium (aka, a “niche”)

Many families find comfort in having a final resting place that they can visit.

Burying the Urn

Similar to a casket, the in-ground burial of the urn allows for a final resting place.

Scattering the Cremated Remains

Some families find comfort scattering the cremated remains in a place that was special to their loved one.
