Yen (Baccam) Lovan, 84, of Wayland, died Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral Services have been set for Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Wayland Mennonite Church, with Pastors Kelly Slagel and Michael Swartzendruber officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 1-2 PM. Following the service her body will be cremated and interred in North Hill Cemetery at a later date. A general memorial fund has been established. Beatty Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Yen Lovan was born July 8, 1933 in Son La, Vietnam, the daughter of Thi and Loung Baccam. She was united in marriage to Hom Lovan on October 10, 1959. The couple moved to the United States in 1980. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wayland Mennonite Church. Yen enjoyed gardening, sewing, walking, singing and spoiling her grandchildren.
Survivors include children, Veng Tong Van of Wayland, IA, Chua (La) Lovan of Muscatine, IA, Vong (Kham) Kavan of Des Moines, IA, Moung Nguyen of Burlington, IA, Boun (Sarah) Lovan of Solon, IA, Boundy (Charity) Lovan of Geneva, NE., one brother, Lac (Chin) Baccam of Des Moines, IA, and 14 Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Hom in 2006, her parents, and one brother, Loan Baccam.
