Winifred Clark Sharpe, 94 of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, November 27, 2004 at the Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 2, 2004 at the Forest Home Chapel with Dr. Edward Peterson officiating. Visitation will begin at Noon Wednesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the family present from 4-7:00 P.M. followed with an Eastern Star Service at 7:00. Memorials in the name of Winifred Sharpe may be designated to the Iowa Department for the Blind Library.
Winifred was born September 5, 1909 in Wayland, Iowa the daughter of Harry H. and Della (Wery) Clark. She graduated from Wayland High School and the Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught at the Lockridge High School for seven years and served as principal for four years. On December 28, 1935 she was united in marriage to Gerald L. Shape in Rushville, Illinois.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Past Matrons’ Club of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a fifty year member of the Founders’ Chapter A of the National T.T.T. Society.
Survivors are her son Larry J. Sharpe and wife Carol of Bettendorf, IA; two grandchildren, Ann Sharpe of Texas and Kirk Sharpe and wife Lisa of Missouri three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Gerald September 27, 1986.
