Wilma Mitchell

A funeral service for Wilma M. Mitchell, 94, of Washington, formerly of Crawfordsville, will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 11:30 am at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with Pastor Jason Collier officating.  Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemtery in Washington.  Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 10 – 11:30 am on Saturday.  A memorial fund has been established for Boy Scout Pack 242 and the United Presbyterian Home, where Wilma died on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.

Wilma M. Mitchell was born July 7, 1922 in rural Crawfordsville, the daughter of John and Lula (Sayre) Hauenstein.  She graduated from Crawfordsville High School. On September 28, 1943 she was united in marriage to Dale Mitchell in Washington.  The couple resided in rural Crawfordsville until Dale's death in 1984, at which time she moved to Washington.

Survivors include two children: Mike (Susan) Mitchell of Oskaloosa, Linda Swift of San Clemente, CA., and four grandchildren: Adam and Phillip Mitchell, Katharine (Maxx) Williams and Abe Swift.

Preceding Wilma in death were her parents, her husband, three sisters: Florence Kelly, Margaret Eisele, Ruth Stevens and one brother Bud Hauenstein.
