Willis “Bill” Shepherd, 56 of Washington, died Friday, August 10, 2007 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a short illness.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Brian Gentz officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin 8:00 AM Tuesday at the Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 PM. A general memorial in the name of Bill Shepherd has been established.
Bill was born June 28, 1951 in Washington, IA the son of Max Hyde and Marie Jane (Cocayne) Shepherd. He graduated from Washington High School and was employed with Wilson Concrete from 1974-1999.
He served in Desert Storm with the 134th Medical Co. of the Iowa National Guard. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.
Survivors include brothers William (Ed) Shepherd and wife Gwenyth of Washington and Samuel (Sam) Shepherd of Washington; sister Sara Bohne and husband Jim of Washington and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
