William Zieglowsky

William Eugene “Gene” Zieglowsky, 70 of Washington, died Friday, September 03, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital.

Funeral Services have been set for 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Washington with Pastor Daryl Carr officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Tuesday at the Beatty Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 5-7:00 PM in the evening. A general memorial in the name of Gene Zieglowsky has been established.

Gene was born August 3, 1940 in Washington, Iowa the son of Cloyce Clinton and Myrtle Maxine (Churchill) Zieglowsky. He graduated from Washington High School in 1958 and was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jane “Liz” Taylor, July 26, 1959 in Bedford, Iowa.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington, Ducks’ Unlimited and the NRA. He was a former fireman and rescue squad member. He worked with his father at Zieglowsky Homebuilders and owned and operated Zieglowsky Home Furnishing, Ziggy’s Bait Shop and the Washington Demon Den. Most recently he owned and operated Zieglowsky Landscaping and Trucking. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, supporting local sport teams and was dedicated to his church and family.

Survivors include his wife Liz of Washington; daughter Julie Zieglowsky of Washington; sons Jim (Denise) and Jay Zieglowsky, both of Washington; brother LaVerne (Margaret) Zieglowsky of Washington; sister Joyce Zieglowsky of Washington; grandchildren Jamie, Erica, Jalyn and Jacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stillborn sister Audrey and granddaughter Ashley Zieglowsky.
