William Fredrick Colhouer, Jr. 66 of Washington died Monday, December 27, 2010 at his home in Washington following a short illness.
A celebration of his life will be 11:00 AM Friday, December 31, 2010 the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor George Gregory officiating. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Friday. A general memorial in the name of William Fredrick Colhouer has been established.
William was born December 22, 1944 in Baltimore, MD the son of William Fredrick Sr. and Sarah (Mitchell) Colhouer. He graduated from Glen Burnie High School in Glen Burnie, MD. He was united in marriage to Linda (Christian) Chorpening, March 14, 1993 in Washington.
He was a member of Reformed Presbyterian Church and former member of the Lions Club. While a member of the Lions he helped construct the Marr Park stone sign.
He was employed as a carpet installer for 23 years in Maryland before moving to Iowa in 1988. He was then employed with Larry Yoder Construction as a mason. He later drove a truck for Swift and Cherokee.
He enjoyed model trains, photography of trains, bicycling, riding the Kewash Trail, past rider of RAGBRAI and spending time with his family, grandchildren and pets.
Survivors include his wife Linda of Washington, children, Melissa Schwartz (Bryon) of Fredrick, MD, Melinda Homes of Ainsworth, David Chorpening Jr. of Ottumwa, Shawn Chorpening of Iowa City, Aaron Chorpening of Cedar Rapids and Tracy Chorpening of Cedar Falls; brother Dennis Colhouer (Kim) of Ellicott, MD; sisters Patricia Bastian (Peter) of Gaithersburg, MD and Janis Gatzke (Authur) of Churchill, MD; five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Timothy.
