William “Bill” J. Ruth, 62, of North Liberty, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospital. A memorial mass will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 1:30 PM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Cosgrove. The family will greet friends Tuesday, June 21, 2022, from 4 – 7 PM at Waldschmidt Hall in Cosgrove, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. William James Ruth was born May 24, 1960, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Richard and Emilie (Cox) Ruth. He graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1978 and attended Ellsworth Community College. On December 18, 1982, he was united in marriage to Karen Eldeen at St. Peter’s Church in Cosgrove. Bill worked as a concrete finisher for many years. He was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside and was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Cosgrove. Bill enjoyed playing Euchre, spending time with his friends, traveling, gardening, and woodworking. He especially loved playing with his grandchildren. Bill was a kind, generous man who loved to share his time, produce from his garden, and cookies he had baked with folks.
Survivors include his wife Karen of North Liberty, three children: Elizabeth (Dan) Colón of Vancouver, WA, Molissa (Logan) Koch of North Liberty, Cody Ruth (fiancé Augwenda Papich) of North Liberty, and three grandchildren: Louden, Layne, and Maisie, seven siblings: Darlene Barney, Pat Ruth, Judy (Rob) Dailing, Gerri (Joe) Turecek, Colleen Rempe (fiancé Scott Ham), Mary (Rick) Wells, and Joe Ruth and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Preceding Bill in death were his parents, his stepfather Ralph Young and his brother Dick Ruth.
