A celebration of life for Wesley Van Dyk, 69, of Kalona will be held Friday, February 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Kalona United Methodist Church with Pastor Gerry Kahler officiating. An hour of visitation will be held from 10 – 11AM. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County. Wesley Van Dyk passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Parkveiw Home in Wellman, surrounded by his family.
Wesley Van Dyk was born October 7, 1945 in Patterson, NJ, the son of Myndert and Madeline (Seiferth) Van Dyk. He graduated from Eastern Christian High School and Calvin College and Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI with a Masters in Divinity. Wesley and Ellen Stob were united in marriage in Grand Rapids, MI in 1967. He was a minister in the Christian Reformed Church for many years, and a member of Alcoholic Anonymous. Wes enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, biking, and taking walks with his grandson.
Survivors include his wife Ellen, two daughters: Amy Van Dyk and husband Shawn Robertson, Elizabeth Van Dyk and one grandson, Lucas Robertson all of Kalona.
Preceding Wes in death were his parents and one sister, Carolyn Bryant.
