Warren E. Slagel was born in Michigan, on November 19, 1921, the son of Elmer and Sarah (Conrad) Slagel. He was united in marriage to Vernelda Widmer on Nov. 10, 1946 in St. John's, Michigan. He farmed, ran the Wayland Feed Service and managed Slagel's DX Gas Station. Warren was a member of the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, where he served as a church elder. In his younger years he enjoyed being active in the Wayland Jaycee's. Survivors include three children and spouses, all of Wayland, Eric Slagel, Wendy and husband Ron Scarff, Kelley and wife Veronica Slagel, five grandchildren, Ryan Scarff, Chad Scarff, Matthew and wife Jen Slagel, Sara Scarff and Andrea Slagel, five great grandchildren, Mckenzie Bean-Scarff, Quinn Scarff, Sydney and Warren Scarff and Gavin Slagel, six siblings and spouses, Anna Walker of Michigan, Roger and wife Donna Slagel of Florida, Betty and husband Stan Snyder of Goshen, IN, Evelyn Sharick of Goshen, IN, Max and wife Mary Slagel of Ithaca, MI, and Carol Hershberger of Goshen, IN. Preceding Warren in death were his parents, wife, Vernelda on Sept. 2, 2007, one infant son, Kevin Slagel, one brother, Allen Slagel, and four sisters, Ruby Slagel, Doris Larkin, Lucille Jolls and Fern Yoder. A fund in Warren's honor has been established for Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, Parkview Home or Hospice of Central Iowa. Warren's family would like to thank all who have been so supportive of them during this loss of their loved one. God Bless Each Of You.
