Wanda Cain

September 2, 1964 — July 8, 2014

A celebration of life for Wanda Jean Cain, 49, of Kalona, formerly of Downing, MO, will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Kalona United Methodist Church with Pastor Gerry Kahler officiating.  Burial will follow at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona.  Visitation will be held Thursday, July 10 from 4 – 7 PM and Friday, July 11 from 4 – 8 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. The family will be present at both visitations.   A general memorial fund has been established.  Wanda Cain died July 8, 2014 at Mercy Hospice Care in Iowa City after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Wanda Jean Cain was born September 2, 1964, the daughter of Junior and Millie (Mounce) Elliott.  In her youth she was active in 4-H and Girl Scouts and she graduated from Lancaster High School in Lancaster, MO in 1982.  During high school she played basketball and was a cheerleader for the football team.  On April 2, 1983 she was united in marriage to Breck Tracy Cain in Lancaster, MO and to this union two children were born, Tara and Tyler.  Wanda was raised in Downing, MO and moved to Kalona after her marriage.  She worked as a store manager, then moved up to District Manager for Casey's Convience Stores for over twenty five years, until her health prevented her from continuing.  Wanda accepted Christ as her personal savior in her youth and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Memphis, MO, she later tranferred her membership to Kalona United Methodist
Church.  She enjoyed camping in Missouri with her family and friends, water skiing, fishing and taking canoe trips down the current river.  Wanda loved to shop, get her nails and hair done and hang out with her family and friends.  Although her three brothers spoiled her she found three "sisters" in Kalona; Denise Wiles, Debbie Kelley-Melsa and Cheyenne Kiefer.  Wanda always thought she would beat this dreadful diesease and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of Hayden Jean Roberts, her first granddaughter.

Survivors include her husband Breck Cain of Kalona, daughter Tara Brooke Cain (Tyler) of Center Point, IA, son Tyler Breck Cain of Kalona, IA, grandson Kamron Roberts, parents, Junior and Millie (Mounce) Elliott of Downing, MO,  three brothers: Michael Lee Elliott (Lisa) of McDonough, GA, Rodney Dee Elliott (Laurie) of Downing, MO, and Scott Dean Elliott (Nancy) of Downing, MO, ten nieces and nephews: Charity Firzzell (Mark), Brandie Elliott, Ryan Elliott, Shane Elliott (Hillary), Briana Elliott (Andy), Kerry Elliott (Gina), Anthony Elliott, Tacy Elliott, Lauren Stojanowski and Madison Stojanowski, ten great nieces and nephews, two sister in laws: Rochon Cain of Jefferson City, MO, and son Ben Sapp; Sherri Corbett (Jim) of Columbia, MO and their children, Erin and Kris and  brother in law, Terry Cain (Dennis Rumans) of Springfield, MO.
Preceding Wanda in death were her grandparents: Merle and Georgia (Gaston) Mounce, Emmett and Rose (Anderson) Elliott and her father and mother in law, Cloyd and Sandra Cain.
