Vivian K. (Ropp) Martin, 70, of Washington, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Arbor Court Nursing Facility in Mt. Pleasant. A funeral will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024, at 1:30 PM at the Kalona Mennonite Church in Kalona with Pastor Don Patterson officiating. The service will be available via Livestream on the Beatty Peterseim Website, Facebook and YouTube pages. Burial will follow at Brighton Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton. The family will greet friends from 4 – 7 PM, Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A general memorial fund has been established.
Vivian Kay Martin was born September 16, 1953, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Erma (Kauffman) Ropp. She graduated from Iowa Mennonite School. On June 1, 1991, she was united in marriage to Fred Martin at Marr Park in Ainsworth. Vivian was a homemaker and also served as the crossing guard at Arthur Elementary School in Arthur, Illinois. She was baptized at the Kalona Mennonite Church and served as a First Responder in Arthur. Vivian enjoyed dancing, knitting, puzzles, reading and spending time with her children. She collected lights houses, cobalt blue glass and trains.
Survivors include her husband Fred of Washington; seven children: Scott (Alicia) Marner of Chesterville, IL, and daughter Abigail, Teri Marner of Champaign, IL, Jeff (Jennifer) Marner of Arthur, IL and children: Jillian, Denton and Makai, Jamie (Troy) Pugh of Letts, IA, and children: Mariah, Kendal and Owen, Mary Anne (Matt) Alberhasky of Muscatine, IA and children: Alleyea, Kazandra, Joseph, Neyva, Elizabeth and Dixie, Chad Martin of Mt. Union, IA, and daughter Lexie, and Bryan (Dawn) Martin of Washington, and children Bryan and Emma, five great-grandchildren and three siblings: James Ropp of Evans, CO, and Juanita (Gordon) Troyer and Kim (Kent) Lehman of Kalona.
Preceding Vivian in death were her parents.
