Virginia Chamberlin, 94 of Monticello, IL formally of Washington, died Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Piatte County Nursing Home in Monticello.
A mass of the Resurrection will be 2:30PM Saturday, November 30, 2019 at St James Catholic Church with Fr. Bennie Weir officiating. Following the mass her body will be cremated and interred at Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be Noon until 2:15PM at the Beatty Funeral Home. Memorials have been designated to the St. James Catholic Church.
Virginia was born January 10, 1925 the daughter of Albert and Anna (Redlinger) Hammen. She had most of her schooling at St. Elizabeth school in Harper. After graduation she entered the retail business and remained in the business for 40 years. She was united in marriage to Dallas Chamberlin on October 12, 1943 at the St. James Catholic Church. She and her husband owned and operated the Chamberlin Bros Sport Shop. She was a faithful member of the St. James Catholic Church, Alter and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America, Washington Historical Society and volunteered at Earthy Blessings. She enjoyed nature, walking in Sunset Park, reading, giving and sharing books, scripture sharing, dancing and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter Cindy (Steve) Welter of Mahomet, IL; sister Jeanette Besser of Harper; brother Keith Hammen of Kansas City, MO and 3 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Eileen and infant daughter Mary Christine.
