Virgil L. Lane, age 91 of Mount Pleasant, Iowa died Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at his home in Mount Pleasant.
Funeral Services have been set for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November, 8, 2003 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with the Pastor Dan Buck of the Congregational United Church of Christ of Danville officiating. Burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery. Open visitation will Noon till 6:00 P.M. Friday at the Beatty Funeral Home with family receiving friends one hour prior to the Funeral Service on Saturday.
Virgil was born August 6, 1912 in Rome, Iowa the son of Frank Lincoln and Christian (Ensminger) Lane. On January 29, 1938 he was united in marriage to Frances Viola Conner in Louisa County.
He farmed in the Trenton area and was employed by Malleable Works in Fairfield for 41 years. He enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, fishing and being with family, friends and neighbors.
Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Moore and husband Ron of Poway, CA and Shirley Starman and husband Robert of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Frances, three brothers, Ralph, Floyd and Roscoe, sister Blanche Payne and grandson Bradley Starman.
