Violet Mae Erwin, 87 of Washington, died Saturday, January 9, 2010 at United Presbyterian Home in Washington following declining health.
Funeral Services have been set for 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service. A memorial in the name of Violet Mae Erwin has been established to the American Cancer Society and St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
Violet was born April 22, 1922 near Brighton, Iowa the daughter of Mary Elmira (Farrier) and Henry J. Curl. She was united in marriage to Richard Wayne Erwin Sr., September 3, 1939 in Washington.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and past member of the VFW auxiliary.
She was employed at Steinman Clothing and Econo-mart in Wapello, Iowa before moving to Brighton and was also a cashier at Pamida in Fairfield for several years prior to her retiring in 1984 to Washington.
Survivors include children Pat Stacy and husband Lowell of Wayland, IA, Sharon Evans and husband Paul of Washington and Richard “Rick” Erwin Jr. and wife Ruth of Fulton, MO; ten grandchildren, twenty-seven great-great grandchildren and nine great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard February 2, 1966, sister Pearl Lafrance; half brother Alva Lowder; brothers William, Howard and Ralph Curl.
