Vernon Eugene Cook, 42 Riverside, Iowa, died suddenly Friday, January 3, 2003 at Wayland, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, January 9, 2003 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Scott Swartzendruber officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 P.M. A general memorial has been established in the name of Vernon Eugene Cook.
Vern was born February 29, 1960 in Butler, Pennsylvania the son of James Lee and Ina Cora (Walton) O’Dell Cook. He graduated from Greenbrier West High School in Charmco, West Virginia in 1978. Following school he was enlisted in the Navy for six years. On September 29, 1991 he was united in marriage to Janet Dostal in Banning California.
He was employed with Loparex in Iowa City as a machine operator for the last nine years. Vern and his wife lived in California, Washington, Kalona and the last few years in Riverside. He enjoyed sports and biblical reading.
Survivors include his wife, Janet of Riverside; mother Ina of Rainelle, West Virginia; three brothers, Bruce Miller and wife Lisa of Ainsworth, IA, Donald Hedrick and James Cook, both of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Carol Hedrick of Wisconsin, Sharon Flud and husband Robert of Brighton and Charlotte Cook of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his father.
