Vivian Joann Redlinger, "Grandma Red", 85, of Riverside, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025, at the University of Iowa Downtown Campus. A funeral will be held Friday, March 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Facebook and YouTube pages. The family will greet friends from noon until 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Wellman Public Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for The Village Community in West Branch where Joann's grandson Jacob attends. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Joann (Rainbolt) Redlinger was born December 29, 1939, in Corydon, Indiana, the daughter of Oliver and Ozena (Montgomery) Rainbolt. She graduated from high school in Corydon. In October of 1975, she was united in marriage to Terry Redlinger. Joann held various positions in her life, at one time owning and operating I & J Rock Bar in Riverside, waitressing at Country Kitchen and the Highlander, and working at the University of Iowa Hospital as a medical photographer. She enjoyed reading, gardening, hummingbirds, watching westerns, cooking, and being with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son Ryan (Cathy) Redlinger of Riverside; two grandchildren: Jacob and Bryan Redlinger; two-step sons: Robb Redlinger and Russ (Ann) Redlinger; and two-step granddaughters: Kattie Marine and Meghan Villhauer; one brother Ronnie Rainbolt; three sisters: Sharon Fleece, Pam Fleece, and Linda Bischoff and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Joann in death were her parents, her husband Terry, her brother Gary Rainbolt, and her in-laws.
