Tony J. Cox, 36, of Columbus Junction, died Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospital. A visitation will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021, from 10 AM to noon at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A time of sharing will be held at noon. The time of sharing will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Facebook page. His body will be cremated and burial will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for burial expenses and his son’s college fund.
Anthony James Cox was born February 10, 1985, in Whittier, CA, the son of Christina Cox. He attended Washington High School. On December 1, 2012, he was united in marriage to Katie Smith in Iowa City. Tony had a welding certificate and was currently employed by L. L. Pelling. He enjoyed spending time with his son, Brax, fishing, going for rides on the side by side, and floating on the Iowa river in the kayak and canoe.
Survivors include his wife Katie and son Brax of Columbus Junction, mother Christina Cox (Donavan Wyse) of Washington, father Keith Bloomer of Columbus Junction, siblings: Erin (Justin) Magnelli of Santa Rosa, CA, Keith (Kaylee) Williams of Muscatine, Shauna (Craig) Bragg of Michigan, maternal grandmother Shirley (Clarence) Schrock of Washington, paternal grandmother Norma Bloomer of Columbus Junction, father and mother-in-law Ed (Debbie) Smith of Columbus Junction, uncle Wayne (Tina) Cox, Jr. of Riverside, and special friend Mike Arnold of Pleasant Plain.
Preceding Tony in death was his paternal grandfather Keith Bloomer and maternal grandfather Wayne Cox.
