Todd E. Fitzsenry, 59, of Kalona, formerly of Schaller, Iowa, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023, at his home in Kalona as a result of ongoing health issues. A visitation will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, where the family will greet friends from 2 – 5 PM. A funeral will be held Monday, January 9, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller. Burial will follow at the Schaller Cemetery. Visitation in Schaller will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023, from 4 – 6 PM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. A memorial fund for the Richmond Am-Vets Post #107 has been established. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona and the Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller are assisting Todd’s family.
Todd Edward Fitzsenry was born June 21, 1963, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of Robert Earl and Thelma Mae (Vogler) Fitzsenry. He graduated from Schaller Community School in 1981 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree and K-12 Teaching Certification from the University of Iowa. Todd was the Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Kalona from 1994 – 2010. He was a member of the Kalona Optimist Club, was currently a member of Sons of Am-Vets Richmond Post #107 and was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller, and had been a Cub Scout Leader in Kalona. Todd enjoyed Iowa Hawkeyes sports, fishing and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include four siblings: Tamera (Patrick) Davis of Austin, TX, Dwight Fitzsenry of Schaller, IA, Darla (Dennis) Miller of Schaller, IA, Janda (David) Radke of Galva, IA, eight nieces and nephews: Matthew Davis, Chelynne Campion, Angie Cockerham, Nathan Fitzsenry, Joshua Miller, Leah Allen, Seth Radke, Sam Radke and thirteen great-nieces and nephews: Owen and Declann Campion, Lylah Cockerham, Ethan and Lilly Fitzsenry, J.D. and Andrew Miller, Aiden and Max Allen, Leo and Ruby Radke and Tate and Emmy Radke.
Preceding Todd in death were his parents and his cat Lucky.
