Timothy Mellinger

July 29, 1957 — February 21, 2009

Timothy Owen Mellinger, 51 of Washington died suddenly Saturday, February 21 in Lone Tree, Iowa.


Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 27, 2009 at noon at St. James Catholic Church in Washington. Father Paul Appel will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 AM to noon at the church. A private family burial will be held later. A memorial fund has been established in lieu of flowers for his son’s education. Beatty Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements.


Timothy Owen Mellinger was born July 29, 1957 in Burlington, Iowa the son of Thomas and Loretta ( Kibling) Mellinger. He graduated from Washington High School in 1975 and attended Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa.
Tim was united in marriage to Laurie Stumpf on June 3, 1989 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond. The couple later divorced.

He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Washington, he enjoyed playing golf, basketball, fishing, playing cards, and coaching Zach’s baseball and basketball teams when Zach was younger.


Survivors include one son, Zachery T. Mellinger of Riverside, parents, Tom and Loretta Mellinger of Washington, four sisters, Roseanne Mellinger and husband Mike Rogers of Nichols, IA, Carol and husband Dave Karian of Huntington Beach, CA., Angela and husband Rusty Zook of Riverside, Melissa and Kevin Cardwell of Spirit Lake, IA., three brothers, Mark and wife Cheryl Mellinger of Aquasco, Maryland, Gary Mellinger and fiance’ Linda Fear of Wayland, IA and Scott and Cindy Mellinger of Washington. Fifteen nieces and nephews and four great nieces and newphews.


Preceding Tim in death were his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
