A Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas W. Kallaus, 87, of Richmond, will be held
Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond with Father Bill Roush and Deacon Derick Cranston officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Richmond. The family will greet friends Tuesday, June 4 from 4 – 6 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona where a Rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. A memorial fund has been established for Holy Trinity Catholic Church or Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Thomas Kallaus died Friday, May 31, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
Thomas William Kallaus was born August 25, 1931, the son of Roy John and Maude Edythe (Welte) Kallaus. He attended Kalona High School and worked in housekeeping at the University of Iowa Hospital for 18 years. Tom was a faithful member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed watching sporting events, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Fighing Irish of Norte Dame.
Survivors include five siblings: Norman Kallaus of Iowa City, Jane Kallaus of Iowa City, Louise Sattler of Kalona, Gary Kallaus of Richmond, Angie Hofer of Kalona, sister-in-law Dora Kallaus of Kalona, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Tommy in death were his parents one brother: Robert Kallaus; sisters: Pauline Hershberger, Yvonne Davis and Mary Kathyrn Barry.
