Thomas LeRoy Allen was born in Wellman the son of Gilbert and Alverda (Marek) Allen. He graduated from Wellman High School in 1954. Tom served in the US Army from 1957-1958. He was employed by Allen Masonry for several years and later worked for Northwestern Bell/US West telephone companies, retiring after 35 years. Tom and Mary Della Ballard were married on September 7, 1963. Tom had many interests that included card playing, photography, building and woodworking, fixing things and collecting Hummels and coins. Surviving Tom are his wife, Mary Della, one daughter Angie Allen of Cedar Rapids, one son Anthony and wife Melynda Caston of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are grandchildren Aurora, Juston, Kaylyn and Ambrose, siblings, Michael and wife Becky Allen of Wellman, Gerald 'Joe' Allen of Cedar Rapids, Patricia and husband Gerald Morse of Muscatine and Molly Allen of Cedar Rapids. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Marlyn and Larry Allen and a sister Jane McCartt. Tom's family offers their gratitude to everyone who shared memories and expressed sympathy during this time.
