A celebration of life for Thelma L. Horsey, 106, of Washington will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held from 1 – 7PM Friday, August 7 at the Beatty Funeral Home with the family present from 5 – 7 PM. A memorial fund has been established for the great grandchildren's education. Thelma Horsey died Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at the McCreedy Home in Washington.
Thelma Louisa (Derby) Horsey was born in Clear Creek Township, Keokuk County on October 1, 1908 the daughter of Charles and Christina (Sanner) Derby. She moved to Washington in 1923 and was united in marriage to Cloyce Horsey at the Presbyterian parsonage on December 3, 1933. Thelma was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Washington and worked at a variety of jobs in Washington.
Survivors include her son David Horsey of Washington, two grandsons: Kyle Horsey of Washington, Guy (Andrea) Horsey of Marion, one great grandson, Ryan Horsey and two step great granddaughters: Meredith and Hannah Roethler.
Preceding Thelma in death was her husband in 1951, and daughter in law, Joyce Horsey. Thelma was the last of a family of 12 children.
