Terry Jene Wilson, 62 of Crawfordsville, Iowa died Sunday, September 10, 2006 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and clinics.
Funeral Services have been set for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 14, 2006 at the WACO High School in Wayland, IA with Michael Zahs officiating. Burial will be in the Crawfordsville Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M.-5:00P.M. Wednesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with family receiving friends from 7:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. at the WACO High School in Wayland. A Masonic Service will be at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the school. A General memorial in the name of Terry Wilson has been established.
Mr. Wilson was born December 23, 1943 in Maquoketa, Iowa the son of Clyde and Virginia (Schnoor) Wilson. He graduated from Pekin High School in Pekin, IL and University of Northern Iowa with a BA in Social Studies. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 till 1964 in the Great Lakes and Key West Fl. On July 11, 1970 he was united in marriage to Willa Trent in Maquoketa.
Mr. Wilson was a teacher of Social Studies and Drivers Education at WACO for thirty-four years retiring in 2004. This was his first and only teaching job and was named as Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year in 2004. He was a member of the Wayland Masonic Lodge #120, Washington County Historical Society and the Cast Iron Seat Collectors Association. He enjoyed auctions, collecting cast iron seats, antique farm equipment, studying cemetery headstones and traveling to historical places.
Survivors include his wife Willa of rural Crawfordsville, mother Virginia of Maquoketa, sons, Tom Wilson of Blue Grass, IA and Monte Valentine and wife Joyce of Davenport, IA; two brothers, Berry Wilson and wife Leigh of Ossining, NY and Curtis Wilson of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his father Clyde in October of 2001.
