Steven Walters

Steven M. Walters, 63, of Brighton, died Thursday, March 28, 2019 at his home. The family will have a private burial at Elm Grove Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 2:30PM at the Washington County Conservation Center in Marr Park. A general memorial fund has been established.

Steven Melvin Walters was born March 26, 1956 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Melvin and Delores (Meyer) Walters. He attended Wayland schools and was employed in many different capacities at Modine Manufacturing in Washington for 40 years. Steve was a member of Marion Avenue Baptist Church and enjoyed mushrooming, fishing, hunting and working on cars.

Survivors include his wife Julie of Riverside, three children: Aaron (Sarah) Walters of Riverside, Adam Walters (Amy Hesser) of Mt. Pleasant, Hannah Walters of Riverside, five grandchildren: Tyler, Adam, Kylie, Makaila and Keegan Walters, his mother Delores Lewis of Wayland, his girlfriend Jane McKune of Brighton, three sisters: Kathy Martin of Texarkana, AR., Sharon (Max) DeLay of Mt. Pleasant, Ola (Jim) Williams of Wayland, and one brother Michael Lewis of Wayland.

Preceding Steve in death was his father, his brother David Walters, sister Janice Miller and mother-in-law Colleen Glisan.
