Stella Marie Boshart, 101 of Wayland, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Parkview Home in Wayland.
A Celebration of Stella’s life will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Bethel Mennonite Church with Pastor Brad Gillis officiating. Burial will be at 9:30 AM Tuesday prior to the service at the Bethel Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 PM. A memorial in the name of Stella Marie Boshart has been established to the Parkview Home.
Stella was born April 27, 1910 in Wayland, IA the daughter of John C. and Josephine (Roth) Graber. She was united in marriage to Arthur E. Boshart on November 20, 1930.
In her youth she became a member of the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church and in 1950 became a charter member of the Bethel Mennonite Church, where she remained a member until her death. She was an active church member teaching Sunday School and Bible School.
She loved housekeeping, but after the proverbial empty nest she worked for the Parkview Home and after moving to Washington she worked at Stewart School. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and writing. In her many years she authored two books of poetry, enjoying sharing them with others far and near!
Survivors include daughter Joretta Hochstetler and husband Harlen of Kalona; son Royden Boshart and wife Carol of Washington; five grandchildren Joey Hochstetler and wife Alice, Ledru Hochstetler and wife Sheri, Lamonte Hochstetler and wife Valerie, Lisa Glasgow and husband Larry and Marketta Leyden and husband Jeff; fifteen great-grandchildren, JB Hochstetler and wife Carla, Tim Hochstetler and wife Kim, Ilona Roberts and husband Matt, Lara Hochstetler, Jill Hochstetler, Cory Hochstetler, Shelby Hochstetler, Craig Hochstetler, Bradley Hochstetler, Luke Hochstetler, Dru Leyden and wife Ashli, Holly Diischer and husband Cory, Tiffany Ball and husband Wes, Natalie Glasgow and Nicole Glasgow; six great-great-grandchildren, Noah Hochstetler, Greta Hochstetler, Mussie Hochstetler, Blaine Leyden, Wrigley Leyden and Trevor Diischer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur in 1985, four brothers, Pete, Amos, Alvin and Wilbert; six sisters, Emma Richard, Anna Richard, Katie Eichelberger, Leah Eichelberger, Evelyn Graber and Lavina Freyenberger.
