Stanley Glenn Zehr, 75 of West Chester, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a sudden illness.
His body has been cremated and a Memorial Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Marlene Janssen of the West Chester United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the West Chester Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6-8:00. A Masonic service will be held following family visitation. Memorials in the name of Stanley Glenn Zehr have been designated to the West Chester Heritage Association.
Stanley was born February 25, 1930 in South English, Iowa the son of Abraham K. and Louise “Lucy” M. (Eash). He attended Keota High School and was united in marriage to Beverly Sprague November 28, 1964 at the United Methodist Church in Keota.
He was in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Prior to his marriage he worked missile silos in the western United States. He was employed for many years as an Electrician for the Electricians Union in Burlington.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shiners Club of Davenport.
Survivors include his wife Beverly of West Chester, brothers, Eugene Zehr and wife Deidre of Washington and Cecil Zehr and wife Jean of Fairfield; sister Kathryn Pratt of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Austin, Lawrence and Wayne.
