Stanley Harlan Baird, 95 of Washington, died Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the Washington County Hospital after declining health.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 14, 2005 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Robert Nelson of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Thursday at the funeral home with family present from 6-8:00 in the evening. A memorial in the name of Stanley Baird has been established to the Salvation Army.
Stanley was born June 6, 1909 in Rockford, IL the son of James Harlan and Helen Beatrice (Lewis) Baird. He graduated from Washington High School and the Washington Junior College. On June 6, 1934 he was united in marriage to Helen Crandall at his home southwest of Washington.
Stanley was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was employed at Caterpillar for thirty years as a line inspector. Stanley and his wife lived in Pekin, IL from 1941 till 1974 and returned to Washington in 1992. Stanley and his wife traveled many miles as missionaries following retirement and enjoyed their time at Lake Wilson in Wisconsin.
Survivors include his wife Helen of Washington, son James H. Baird and wife Sheralynn of Lomita, CA and daughter Nancy Barnard of Charleston, SC; special niece Diane Miller of Albany, Georgia; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
