Shirley A. Boshart, 81 of Washington, died Thursday, May 28, 2015 at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, June 1, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Chaplain Robert Spilger officiating. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 31 from 3-6 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County and Lending Hands.
Shirley A. Boshart was born April 26, 1934 in Nira, Iowa the daughter of Arnold D. And Vivian (Fellendorf) Yoder. She graduated from Keota High School. On October 26, 1952 she was united in marriage to Clinton (Pete) Boshart at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington. Shirley volunteered for years as a Red Cross youth swimming instructor, assisted with clothing store alterations, became a teachers aid with the Washington School system and served as a high school study hall teacher. Later Shirley worked as a caregiver at System's Unlimited, a position which reflected her care and compassion for others. Shirley loved nature and all its beauty, including any tiny creature or animal. She enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, nature hikes, canoeing and exploring. She loved spending time with her family and their many varied pets.
Shirley will be remembered as a loving person who always looked for the good side of everyone, regardless of their situation or struggles.
Survivors include three children: Ron (Bonnie) Boshart of Washington, Randy (Virginia) Boshart of Washington, Missy (Denny) Villhauer of Corning, IA, five grandchildren: Summer Anderson Boshart, Tammy Morris Boshart, Jamie Sell Boshart, Jordan Villhauer, Taylor Villhauer, two great grandchildren: Colton and Brayton Anderson, one sister, Sharon (Gordon) Fuqua of South Carolina and one brother, Richard (Louise) Yoder of Georgia.
Preceding Shirley in death were her parents, her husband Pete in 2001, one sister, Patricia Surface and one brother, Victor Yoder.
