“Shennie” Buck, 82 of Ainsworth, died Sunday, May 03, 2009 at the Washington County Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 2PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Kitch Schatzer officiating. The body will be cremated following the service. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 6 from 5-7PM at the Beatty Funeral Home, the family will not be present. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service from 1-2PM on Thursday with the family present.
A general memorial fund has been established.
Shennie Buck was born November 14, 1926 in Keokuk, Iowa the son of Marvin Hugo and Irene (Rath) Buck. He attended school in Ainsworth. On November 6, 1960 he was united in marriage to Jan Derby in Brighton. He worked at Dick and Bill’s Produce and Washington Manufacturing until his health failed. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, his garden and spending time with his grandchildren, Edward and Amy.
Surviving are his wife, Jan, one son James Buck, a daughter, Mary and husband Donald Berns, and two grandchildren, Edward and Amy Berns all of Ainsworth. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Lou and husband Hank Edgar of Crawfordsville, Katie and husband Dan Kiesey of Marion and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Grace Moore, Helen Johnson, Maxine Jones, and two brothers, F.B “Bucky” James and Richard Buck.
