Samuel Spray

Samuel Robert Spray, 84 of Mt. Pleasant, formally of Hillsboro, died Thursday, March 24, 2005 at the Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 A.M. Monday, March 28, 2005 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be at the Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Sunday at the Funeral Home with family present from 2-4:00 P.M. Memorials in the name of Samuel Spray may be designated to the Hillsboro Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

Samuel was born February 14, 1921 in Hillsboro, Iowa the son of Max and Myrtle (White) Spray. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1938. On February 14, 1951 he was united in marriage to Hope Bye in Kirksville, MO.

Samuel farmed outside Hillsboro all of his life and also was a feed and seed dealer. Samuel was a member of the Hillsboro Masons and served several years on the Harmony School board. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed his family.

Survivors include his wife Hope of Mt. Pleasant; two daughters, Becky Ewing and husband Lee of Stockport, IA and DeeAnn Patterson and husband Mark of Hillsboro, IA; two brothers, Tom Spray and wife Ruby of Billings, MT and Max Spray and wife Sandy of Taylor Ridge, IL; three sisters, Margaret McCabe of Burlington, IA, Donna Jean Ruhe of Fairfield Bay, AR and Clarice Johnson and husband Kenneth of Stockport, IA; two grandchildren Zachary Jacobsmeier and Kayla Jacobsmeier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Dorothy Isaacson and Julia Landess; two brothers, John and Raymond.
