A celebration of life for Rozena M. Wyse, 88, of Wayland, formerly of Washington, will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County. Rozena Wyse died Friday, June 30, 2017 at Parkview Home in Wayland.
Rozena Mae (Christner) Wyse was born February 9, 1929 in Rome, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel and Ethel (Anderson) Christner. She attended rural school and graduated from Wayland High School and received her teaching degree from Iowa Wesleyan Teachers College. Rozena taught in country schools and later taught second grade in the WACO School District. On November 23, 1949 she was united in marriage to Donald F. Wyse in her parents home north of Washington. After retiring from teaching Rozena managed Don’s plumbing business, Wyse Plumbing and Heating, and was also a devoted farm wife. Rozena was a member of the Wayland Methodist Church and she enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family; especially the Sunday get togethers.
Survivors include four children: Tanya (Earl) Greiner of Richland, Shelda (Tim) Swift of Washington, Dawnell Doreo (Rich Weatherman) of North Liberty, Donavan Wyse of Washington, six grandchildren: Jeromy and Ryan Greiner, Terra Huber, Travis Swift, Stephanie and Kelsey Doreo, three great grandchildren: Brayden Greiner, Tyson and Kaden Huber, and one sister Georganna Tschantz of Decatur, IL.
Preceding Rozena in death were her parents, her husband Donald in 2005 and an infant brother.
