A celebration of life for Roy C. Wenger, 90 of Washington will be held Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 10:30AM at the Eicher Mennonite Church in rural Wayland with Pastor Larry Evers officiating. Burial will follow at the Eicher Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 12 from 5-7 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A memorial fund has been established for the Eicher Mennonite Church. Roy C. Wenger died Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Washington County Hospital.
Roy Chris Wenger was born July 14, 1922 in Wayland, Iowa the son of William and Mathilda (Hildebrand) Wenger. He was a member of the Eicher Mennonite Church and spent his life farming in the Wayland community. Raising cattle was his passion and when he was no longer able to farm he maintained his interest in the markets and the crops.
Survivors include two sisters, Lucy Wenger of Wayland, Clara and husband William Potratz of Washington, three nephews, Willis and wife Ginny Kovar, Art and wife Ada Potratz and Roger Potratz, three great nephews, one great niece, one great great niece, and two great great nephews.
Preceding Roy in death were his parents, an infant brother, Herman, two sisters, Myrtle Harland and Ruth Kovar, and two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Harland and Ned Kovar.
