Ronald Gingerich

October 6, 1954 — March 24, 2015

A celebration of life for Ronald D. Gingerich, 60, of Riverside will be held Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Kalona United Methodist Church with Pastors Gerry Kahler and Kevin Gingerich officiating.  Visitation will be held Saturday, March 28 from 2 – 8PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.  A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona United Methodist Church and the Kalona 1st Reponders.  Ronald Gingerich died Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Univeristy of Iowa Hospital.

Ronald Duane Gingerich was born October 6, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Duane and Marilyn (Small) Gingerich.  He graduated from Mid Prairie High School in 1973.  On February 15, 1975 he was united in marriage to Darlene Bender at the Kalona Mennonite Church.  Ron farmed all of his life, did plaster work with his father and uncle Alva, worked for English River Pellets for 37 years and most recently owned his own truck.  He was a member of the Kalona United Methodist Church where he served for many years on the trustees committee.  Ron enjoyed NASCAR, attending his kids and grandkids sporting events, farming, spending time with his family and helping others.

Survivors include his wife Darlene of Riverside, three sons: Torrey (Jody) Gingerich of Riverside, IA, Tyrell (Amanda) Gingerich of Bakersfield, CA,  Tristan (Jacque) Gingerich of Riverside, IA, seven grandchildren: Grady, Landry, Elsey, Adam, Jaxson, Kinsley and Kolton, his father, Duane Gingerich of Kalona, one brother, Kevin (Susan) Gingerich of Sheldon, IA, one sister, Evelyn (Vernon) Smith of West Liberty, IA, sister in law Delores Gingerich of Riverside, IA,  mother in law Barbara Bender of Kalona, and brothers in law: Derald (Marilyn), Dwight (Jenelle) and Delwyn "Bud" Bender all of Kalona.

Preceding Ron in death were his mother Marilyn in 2012, one brother, Lowell Gingerich and father in law Lloyd Bender.
