Roger W. "Catfish" Fairchild

Roger W. “Catfish” Fairchild, 78 of Washington died Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington.

His body has been cremated and a Celebration of his Life will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 29, 2023 at  the Coralville American Legion in Coralville, Iowa. Beatty-Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Roger was born January 11, 1945 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Henry Timothy and Opal Claire (Wyjack) Fairchild. He graduated from University High School in Iowa City.

He was a house painter for his working life. He enjoyed baseball, fishing, hunting, mushrooming and was an avid Hawkeye fan. He held the record for catching the largest flathead catfish of 62 lbs. in Iowa. He lived in Coralville, Rubio and moved to Washington in 2020.

Survivors include brothers Claude Williams of Iowa City, William “Bill” Fairchild of Washington and a sister Pauline Rodgers of Denver CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Timothy and James.
