Robert Waterhouse

Robert Allen Waterhouse, Sr., 82 of the Grace Hill community, west of Washington died, Thursday, April 10, 2003 at his home following declining health.

Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 A.M. Monday, April 14, 2003 at the First Church of God in Brighton with the Rev. Larry Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Noon till 6:00 P.M. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family receiving friends from 2-4:00 P.M. Memorials may be designated to the Alzheimer Association's in the name of Robert Allen Waterhouse.

Robert was born January 1, 1921 west of Brighton, Iowa in the Clay community the son of Max and Maude (Woodford) Waterhouse. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1938. On June 23, 1940 he was united in marriage to Olletha Zickefoose the Brighton Presbyterian Church.

He was a member of the First Church of God in Brighton and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He took part in the invasion of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was a farmer, sawmill operator, seed corn salesman and sold and serviced chainsaws.

Survivors include his wife Olletha of Grace Hill, two sons, Robert Jr. and wife Connie of Washington and James and wife Berna of Keota, Iowa, daughter, Joy Miller and husband Dennis of Keota, Iowa, sister, Louise Engel and husband Eugene of Washington, ten grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by her parents, son David, grandson Jason, two great-grandchildren and two sisters, Maxine Waterhouse and Irene Stacey.
