Richard “Dick” Trier, 80 of Brighton, died at his home, Saturday, June 29, 2024.
A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, July 5, 2024, at the Beatty-Peterseim Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor James Bringman officiating. His body has been cremated. The family will receive friends 2 hours before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a general memorial in the name of Richard “Dick” Trier has been established.
Dick was born June 18, 1944, in Washington, Iowa the son of Charles Cleo and Ruth Kathryn (Pickens) Trier. He graduated from Keota High School in 1963, served 6 years in the National Guard, and was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Cobb on April 14, 1968, at the Kinross Christian Church.
He was employed as a farmer, carpenter, feed salesman, and real estate agent. He was a member of the Lake Darling Saddle Club. Dick enjoyed horses, hunting, mushroom hunting, playing cards, attending coffee in Brighton, dancing, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Ruth of Brighton, daughter Erin (Riley) Wade of Brighton; brother John (Nancy) Trier of Dublin; sisters Sharon (Gail) Niffenegger of Washington and Joeyln Zickefoose of Brighton; grandchildren, Cashden, Ryen, Teage, and Grady.
Preceding Dick in death were his parents, sisters, Margaret Brown and Karen Schantz, and granddaughter Tymber.
