A graveside service with full military honors for Richard K. "Boomer" Bean, 81, of Ainsworth will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, June 8 from 5 – 8 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A memorial fund has been established for Ainsworth 1st Responders and Washington County Hospice. Richard Bean died Friday, June 5, 2015 at his home in Ainsworth.
Richard Keith Bean was born September 15, 1933 in Haskins, IA, the son of James C. and Dorothy (Wall) Bean. He graduated from Ainworth High School and served his country in the United States Army from 1954 – 1956. He also served in the Army National Guard from 1975 – 1982. Richard was united in marriage to Carol Conklin on November 21, 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Lisbon, IA. He sold auto parts for many years, working for Breese's Auto Parts in Iowa City and later for Capper Ford in Washington. Boomer was able to take the Honor Flight in 2012. He enjoyed cleaning cars, cooking, doing things for others and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Carol of Ainsworth, three children: Doug (Janice) Bean of Westerville, OH, Angie (Steve) Harris of Iowa City, IA, Jeff (Genea) Bean of Wellman, IA, eight grandchildren: Nathaniel, Lucas, Joachim, Matthias, Emmanuela, Dominica and Alex Bean and Courtney Harris, two step grandsons: Drew and Blake Albright, and one brother, Donald (Donna) Bean of Marion, IA.
Preceding Richard in death were his parents.
