Richard “Rich” Thomas Aplara, 34 of Lockridge, died Sunday, October 12, 2003 at his home following an accident.
Memorial Services have been set for 10:30 A.M. Thursday, October 16, 2003 at the United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant with Rev. Jeffrey McPheron officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Richwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Wednesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with family receiving friends from 5-8:00 P.M. Memorials in the name of Rich Aplara may be designated to his children.
Rich was born October 19, 1968 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa the son of Robert Bruce Aplara and Donna Rae Van Tuyl. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1987. He was united in marriage to Irene Lance on June 25, 1994 in Trenton, Iowa.
He was employed with Blue Bird in Mt. Pleasant for 12 years and recently employed at R&S Auto in Lockridge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family.
Survivors include his wife Irene of Lockridge; Father Bruce Aplara and wife Doris (Campbell) of Trenton, IA and mother Donna Rae (Van Tuyl) Messersmith and husband Darrel of Brooklyn, IA; six children, Tyler and Nicole of Burlington, Kara and Zachary of Muscatine and Amy and Andrea of Lockridge; three brothers, Doug Aplara and wife Toni of Trenton, IA, Mike Aplara of Mt. Pleasant, IA and Terry Aplara of Trenton, IA; four sisters, Debra Aplara of Albion, IA, Roberta Sammons and husband Brian of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Angela Townsend and husband Kyle of Gilman, IA and Toni Aplara of Iowa City, IA. Grandparents, Lucille Campbell of Wayland, IA and May Davis of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Richard and Virginia Van Tuyl and Max Davis.
