Rex Eugene Gingerich, 79 of Ainsworth, died Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Iowa City Rehab and Health Care Center.
Funeral Services have been set for 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Following services his body will be cremated. Family visitation will be from 4-8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers a general memorial has been established in the name of Rex Eugene Gingerich.
Rex was born May 20, 1934 in rural Johnson Co., Iowa the son of Howard and Bessie (Manning) Gingerich. He was united in marriage to Cherie Leyden in Washington, August 19, 1954, they later divorced.
He was employed as a Milkman in Washington, logger in Idaho, drove a Greyhound Bus, worked at John Deere in Moline and was also a truck driver/mechanic. He enjoyed woodworking and clocks.
Survivors include children, David Gingerich of Ainsworth, Daniel Gingerich and wife Carmen of Aledo, IL, Linda Bowman and husband Herb of West Branch, IA, Donald Gingerich of Lebanon, OH, John Gingerich and wife Lorena of West Branch, IA, Debra Gingerich of Deep River, IA and Dennis Gingerich of West Branch, IA; sisters Donna Jean Gingerich Fischer and husband Kenny of Winfield, IA and Bea Gardner and husband Don of Mesa, AZ; 29 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Jasmin Gold Gingerich.
