Raymond Graber

January 6, 1915 — August 21, 2004

Raymond P. Graber, 89 of rural Mt. Pleasant died Saturday, August 21, 2004 at his home unexpectedly.

Funeral Services have been set for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the Pleasant View Mennonite Church in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor David Boshart officiating. Burial will be in the Sugar Creek Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Wednesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with family receiving friends from 6-8:00. Memorial in the name of Raymond Graber may be designated to Gideon’s International or the Pleasant View Mennonite Church.

Raymond was born January 6, 1915 southwest of Wayland the son of Joseph and Barbara A. (Rich) Graber. He attended Douglas school and a short term winter bible school at Goshen College. He was united in marriage to Doris M. Roth September 22, 1940 at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church.

Raymond was a charter member of the Pleasant View Mennonite Church and a member of Gideon’s International for over forty years. He was a life long farmer and worked construction and factory work in Hesston, KS from 1961 through 1969 returning to the Mt. Pleasant area he worked at Heatilator till 1978 then helped on the farm northwest of Mt. Pleasant.

Survivors include children Marilyn Leichty and husband Norman of Mt. Pleasant, Gary Graber and wife Gloria of Mt. Pleasant and Russell Graber and wife Barbara of Newton, KS; special “son” Wouter P. Martens of Venhuizen, Netherlands; five sisters Rachel Wyse and husband Roger of Wayland, Bernice Roth and husband Max of Wayland, Lois Swartzendruber and husband Wilbur of Wellman, IA, Sara Lu Fredrick and husband Charles of Eugene, OR and Beulah Mae Swartzendruber and husband Dale of Wayland and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris in October of 1988, sister Welma Nelson and three brothers Clarence, Willis and Virgil.
