Celebration of Life Monday, May 17, 2010 10:00 AM St. Peter's Catholic Church Cosgrove, IA Burial: St. Vincent's Cemetery,rural Riverside Visitation: Sunday 2-7 Peterseim Funeral Home, Kalona Prayers: 7:00PM Ralph Jr. Young Ralph Jr. Young, 77, of rural Oxford died suddenly from heart complications Friday, May 14, 2010 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City Celebration of Life services will be Monday, May 17, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Cosgrove. Burial will be in the St. Vincent's Cemetery, rural Riverside. Visitation will be from 2-7 PM Sunday at the Peterseim Funeral Home, Kalona with prayers at 7:00 PM. Ralph was born June 21, 1932 in Ainsworth, IA, the son of Ralph and Luverne Hazen Young. He graduated from Ainsworth High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After his years in the Service he lived in the New Jersey area and married Joann Shabalick. They had two daughters, Carolyn Jean and Lisa Ann. He continued to live in the New Jersey area after their divorce. Ralph worked several years for UPS and Spector Freight in the New York area before moving back to Iowa where he started farming in the Washington/Ainsworth communities. Ralph and Emilie Ruth were married in 1995 and lived in rural Oxford where he continued farming. Ralph enjoyed going to the casino and playing partner slots with Emilie, euchre, watching races and football. Most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren and family. He loved hearing the stories his grandchildren brought home and helping them work on different projects. Ralph is survived by his wife, Emilie, three sons: Pat and Donna Ruth, of Iowa City, Bill and Karen Ruth of Williamsburg, Joe and Tammie Ruth of Chariton, five daughters; Mary and Rick Wells of Coralville, Colleen and Richard Rempe of Ft. Madison, Gerri and Joe Turecek of Iowa City, Judy Ruth and Rob Dailing of Oxford, Darlene Barney of Illinois. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, one brother Delbert and Joyce Young of Ainsworth and a sister Martha Latta of Odessa, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Wilma Dacy and a brother Art, son Dick Ruth and a great granddaughter Alyssia Clayton. Rest in Peace Ralph.
