Ralph R. “Dick” Moothart, 77 of Washington, died Thursday, October 18, 2007 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 AM Monday, October 22, 2007 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Robert Wollenberg officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon till 6:00 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 2-4:00 PM in the afternoon. A general memorial in the name of Ralph R. “Dick” Moothart has been established.
Dick was born January 8, 1930 in Washington, Iowa the son of Ralph Jacob and Florence (Rose) Moothart. He graduated from Washington High School in 1948 and was united in marriage to Ethel Eva Oswalt April 17, 1954 at the Presbyterian Church in Washington.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington, charter member of Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Whitetails Unlimited and the Isaac Walton Club. He was employed by Exporter Elevator in West Chester, Rock Island Motor Transit from 1952 till 1977, Farmers Mutual Insurance, and the Epicurean Restaurant. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, time at the cabin on Lake Odessa and duck calling where he was the state champion and placed 3rd in nationals.
Survivors include his wife Ethel of Washington, brother in law Dale “Dude” Batterson and nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Virginia Batterson.
