Ralph Edward Messer, 88 of Fairfield, formally of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, December 20, 2004 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following declining health.
Graveside Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 24, 2004 at the White Oak Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Open visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. till 5:00 P.M. Thursday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials in the name of Ralph Messer may be designated to the Parkview Care Center in Fairfield activities fund.
Ralph was born May 11, 1916 near Rome, IA the son of Josey and Alice M. (Collins) Messer. He was employed as a T.V. repairman for many years at the Western Auto store in Mt. Pleasant and caretaker for the White Oak Cemetery. He resided at the County home for thirty years and in 2000 moved to Fairfield. He enjoyed horses, puzzles and reporting the weather to the local radio station.
Survivors include care giving nieces Carol Lewis and Mary Smith of Fairfield and special friends Glen Glover and George Ensminger of Rome.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Lottie Sammons, Ruby Adams, Dorothy Palenstir and Ethel Messer, brothers, Basil, Alan, Noel and Max.
