Ralph Edward Carlson, 82 of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, June 24, 2004 at his home near Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services have been set for 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 28, 2004 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Burial will be Forest Home Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon-6:00 P.M. Sunday at the Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 2-4:00 P.M. Memorials may be designated to the Henry County Conservation or Henry County Health Center Cardiac Rehab.
Ralph was born February 5, 1922 in Sperry, Iowa the son of Clifford D. and Esther (Swanson) Carlson. On November 23, 1944 he was united in marriage to Ethel Marie Starman in Burlington, Iowa.
He was employed with JI Case for fourteen years, Bluebird Midwest for five years, Rural Mail Carrier for twelve years and delivered the Mt. Pleasant Shopper for twelve years. He was a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association. He enjoyed being outdoors and hunting mushrooms and arrowheads.
Survivors include his wife Ethel of Mt. Pleasant, son Sammy Carlson and wife Margaret of Mt. Pleasant, three grandchildren, Bryon, Teena and Elliott and two great grandchildren Tyler and Rylee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Herman.
