Phyllis Mae Hershberger was born August 16, 1940 in Macomb, IL the daughter of James Homer and Nettie (Arnold) Haley. She graduated from Macomb High School. She worked as a waitress and baker and was the manager of the gift shop at the Hawkeye Truck Stop gift shop in Coralville for 30 years. On February 18, 1967 she was united in marriage to Cecil Hershberger in Augusta, IL. The couple later divorced. Phyllis enjoyed listening to gospel music, cooking, baking and making angels.
Survivors include her son, Michael (Barbara) Haley of Colesburg, IA, a daughter, Deona (Jeff) Ware of Plametto, FL, 10 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one brother, Keith Haley of Macomb, IL, five sisters, Carolyn (Marion) Knowles of Colchester, IL, Sue (Marlin) Hurst of Colchester, IL, Lois (Bob) Damron of Atlanta, GA, Regina (Don) Lane of Birmingham, AL, Diane (Ralph) Whetsel of Charleston, SC. and her ex-husband, Cecil Hershberger of Muscatine.
Preceding Phyllis in death were her parents, one son Robert Haley in 2004, two sisters, Gerry Simpson and Sarah Judd, and two brothers, Robert and John Haley.
