A celebration of life for Pete W. Lowe, 87, of Coppock, will be held Friday, April 15, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with Pastor Nancy Sutherland officiating. Burial with full military rites will follow at the Cottonwood Cemetery. Vistitation will be held Thursday, April 14, from noon to 7 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with the family present from 5 – 7 p.m. A general memorial fund has been established. Pete Lowe died Monday, April 11, 2016 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City.
Peter William Lowe was born June 17, 1928 in Washington County, Iowa, the son of Charles Orvill and Lucile (Long) Lowe. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Pete was self employed, hauling lime and gravel. He was a member of the Cottonwood United Methodist Church, Naaman Masonic Lodge #613 of Brighton, Order of the Eastern Star #486 Brighton at Washington, American Legion Post #202 Edgar C Davison, lifetime member of the North American Fisherman Club and current mayor of Coppock. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, playing bingo, traveling to Texas for the winter and visiting with friends.
Survivors include two step children: Judy Teel of Coppock, Harold (Teresa) Arbogast of Brighton, step daughter-in-law; Candie Arbogast of Coppock, 12 step grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren, six step great great grandchildren and a brother-in-law; Gerald Vandenberg of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Preceding Pete in death were his parents, wife Anna, step son Mick Arbogast and ten siblings.
