Penny Sue Sypherd

Penny Sue (Redlinger) Sypherd, 76, of Ainsworth, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the Washington County Hospital. She will be cremated, and no services are planned. A general memorial fund has been established. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Penny was born June 15, 1948, in Keota, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Maude (Lloyd) Redlinger. She was united in marriage to Cecil Sypherd in Oskaloosa, Iowa, in 1965. Penny worked as a cook in the Washington Community School District and at Halcyon House. She was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ in Conesville and enjoyed watching TV.

Survivors include four children: Michael (Mary) Sypherd of Ainsworth, Nancy (Bill) Hartsock of Washington, Raymond Lee (Carrie) Sypherd of Keota, Chris (Teresa) Sypherd of Crawfordsville; six grandchildren: Jamie, Michael, Cecil, Tristan, Samantha, and Colten; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Penny in death were her parents, her husband, her son Scott Sypherd, her great-granddaughter Phoenyx Sturm, and her brother Nick Redlinger.
