Paul Otto Timmerman, 90 of Mt. Pleasant, formally of the Mt. Union Community died Friday, July 4, 2003 at the Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant following declining health.
Funeral Services have been set for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 9 2003 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Mike Shaffer of the Mt. Union Methodist Church and Rev. Bob Hary officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Tuesday at the Funeral Home with family present from 6-8:00 P.M. and two hours prior to the Funeral Service on Wednesday. Memorials may be designated to the American Cancer Society local Chapter or the Old Threshers Foundation in the name of Paul Timmerman.
Paul was born November 7, 1912 in Des Moines County the son of Joseph Fredrick and Bertha (Ploeger) Timmerman. He was united in marriage to Alice E. McCabe March 4, 1940 in New London, IA, later he was united in marriage to Miriam (Corey) Timmerman on July 13, 1986 in Mt. Union, IA.
Mr. Timmerman was a member of the Mt. Union Methodist Church. He farmed in the Mt. Union area in his early years and was employed by McAllister Seed Co. for many years. He enjoyed family, traveling and playing the banjo and was known for his hard work.
Survivors include his wife Miriam of Mt. Pleasant; son David Timmerman and wife Karen of Mt. Pleasant; daughter Janet Sue Timmerman Brookhart and husband Keith of Muscatine, IA; stepdaughter Lavon Timmerman Greenfield Kaufman and husband Ray of Mt. Pleasant and stepson Daryl Timmerman and wife Dianne of Derby, Kansas; two sisters, Marie Gates of Ft. Madison and Edith Barnes Day and husband Jake Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Alice, five brothers, Roy, Carl, Orvil, Glen and Guey and one sister Margaret Remick.
