Paul Preston Banks, 87 of Washington, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Washington County Hospital following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 30 at 10:00AM at the Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints, with Bishop Doug Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 29 at the Beatty Funeral Home, Washington where the family will greet friends from 5-7 PM. A general memorial fund has been established.
Paul was born on August 6, 1921 in West Chester, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Barbara (White) Banks. He graduated from Keota High School and attended TV repair training in Chicago. He was united in marriage to Barbara Boomershine on September 16, 1947 in Washington. Paul owned and operated Banks TV for over 40 years.
Paul was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed repairing TV’s, going to the races in Eldon, Iowa to watch his nephew race, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include two children, Tim Banks of Washington, Kevin Banks of Washington, two grandchildren, Justin and Lonnie Banks, three great grandchildren, Brianna, Jeffrey and Justin Banks, two brothers and spouses, Loyal and wife Jeanette Banks of Washington and Roger and wife Jackie Banks of Des Moines, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara in March of 1988, and a daughter, Tanya Jo Banks.
